Springfield

The Springfield Historic District celebrated its Sesquicentennial (150 years) in 2019. This Jacksonville neighborhood has some of the best examples of late 19th and early 20th century architecture in the city. Accompanying the beautiful architecture in this neighborhood are trendy new restaurants, craft breweries, and giant oak trees; a trademark of Springfield.

Many people are drawn to the neighborhood for the historic homes, and they quickly find that the sense of community is unlike any other in town. If you're walking around the neighborhood, don't be surprised if someone invites you up to their front porch for a drink. Springfield residents spend a lot of time on their front porches, another trademark of the neighborhood. At just under one square mile, Springfield is a walkable and bikeable neighborhood that easily connects to the rest of the urban core. In the early 2000s, Springfield was recognized by Southern Living Magazine as one of the South’s top “comeback neighborhoods”.
