A lot of the San Marco neighborhood lies directly on the banks of the St. Johns River, and you’ll find a mix of impressive grand mansions on riverfront property, as well as charming bungalows just inland that dot the tree-lined main thoroughfare, San Marco Boulevard.
Not only do you have an array of dining and shopping options, there's also the independently owned San Marco Theatre to enjoy the latest movies and Theatre Jacksonville for live performances. San Marco is conveniently located near many of Jacksonville's corporate headquarters and hospitals, and has easy access to main thoroughfares.
The San Marco Preservation Society is the area’s neighborhood organization, and they work to preserve and renew San Marco as one of Jacksonville’s historically and architecturally significant neighborhoods. They organize the popular yearly event, Wine Down in the Parks, which supports the continued preservation of the historic parks in San Marco.
